How to read your results statement properly
Decisions: pass, resit, fail
The Study Results Statement is the official document summarising your performance over a session or a full year. Many students look only at the final figure and ignore the other columns, yet each one carries useful information about your real level and about how you should revise.
What the statement contains
Continuous assessment mark: supervised tests, classroom activities and participation. This is the most accurate indicator of day-to-day work.
Examination mark: the mark from the session's unified exam, local, regional or national depending on your level.
Coefficient: the weight of each subject in the average. A subject with coefficient 7 does not count the same as one with coefficient 2.
Final average: the result of combining continuous assessment and examination according to the coefficients for your level.
Decision: passed, needs support, or deferred — this determines your administrative situation.
A very common reading error
Many students compare their average with a classmate's without accounting for coefficients. A student with 12 in a subject weighted 7 is in a better position than one with 15 in a subject weighted 2. Before judging your result, look at the coefficients and work out the real weight of each subject.

Continuous assessment versus certification exams

This is one of the points students and parents misunderstand most. Continuous assessment marks appear regularly throughout the semester and reflect daily work. Certification exams — regional and national — are held on nationally fixed dates, and their results are published simultaneously across the country.
The practical difference matters: continuous assessment marks can be corrected or updated by the school if an error occurs, whereas certification exam marks follow a completely different procedure — marking is centralised, and any challenge goes through an official process via the school and the provincial directorate.
Can you request re-marking?
For certification exams an official review procedure exists, but it is time-limited and goes through the school, never directly. If you have serious doubts about a mark, act quickly after publication and go to the administration: the deadlines are short.
What to do if you do not pass: resit session and alternatives

Failing is not the end of the road. The Moroccan education system provides several second chances; what matters is knowing your options precisely and acting quickly.
The resit session
For the baccalaureate, the resit session takes place in July and offers a second chance in the subjects not yet validated. Continuous assessment marks are retained, which eases the pressure. Focus your revision only on the subjects concerned and do not waste time on those already passed.
Repeating the year or changing track
If the resit is not enough, repeating the year remains possible depending on your situation and age. Vocational training tracks also offer genuine employment prospects, and many students find there a path that suits them better than general education.
💡 Advice for parents: the moment a student discovers a negative result is psychologically delicate. Support and calm matter far more than talk about the future. Allow some time, then discuss the options calmly.
How the final baccalaureate average is calculated

The final baccalaureate average is not limited to the national exam mark. It combines three components, each with a set weight:

This breakdown reveals something important: points accumulated in the first year of bac count directly towards the baccalaureate. A student who neglects the regional exam thinking "I will make up for it nationally" starts the final year having already lost half the stake. These proportions are indicative and may vary by stream, so always check with your school.

An important note for parents: primary results most often appear in Massar Waliye rather than in the student's own account, because young pupils do not have independent access in many schools. If you cannot find the result in your child's account, check Massar Waliye first.
What to do after checking your result
Checking the result is only the beginning. What separates the student who progresses from the one who stalls is what happens in the following days.
If the result is positive
Download or photograph the statement: it will be requested during enrolment and other procedures
Identify the subjects with the weakest marks, even if you passed
If you are in first year bac, remember this result already counts towards the baccalaureate
Start thinking about guidance early, not at the last minute
If the result is disappointing
First check that the marks are accurate: administrative errors do happen and can be corrected
Identify exactly which subjects caused the problem rather than judging the whole year
Contact the administration to understand your options precisely
If a resit session is scheduled, begin revising immediately

Why do my results show but not my classmate's?
